Having the privilege of being born & brought up in the
traditional Kathak family of Jaipur Gharana ,Received initial
training from father pt. Laxmi narain ji & uncle Pt. Kanhaiya
lal ji, Further refined the art Under the guidance of Pt.
Shambho Maharaj, Pt. Jugak Kishore, & pt. Brahamanan Goswami.
Pt. Girdhari maharaj was schooled in both major Kathak traditions,
embodying each in his artistry: the graceful & sensual
elements of the Lucknow Gharana combined with dynamic &
powerful rhythms & movements of The Jaipur Gharana.
With dozens of dance & drama productions based on kathak
dance to his name, he successfully performed: - Sampurna Ramayan,
Ritu darpan, Damyanti Swayambar, Geet Govind, Urvashi, Chandalika,
and Gatirodh in classical dance.
In his performing career he has participated
in Bharat Mahotasava & international dance festivals in
Japan, Bharat darshan program in France, & cultural program
in Nepal. He has conductd workshops & classess in many
countries like France & Germany regularly.
Guruji believe in “Guru Shishya
parampara” & some of his students are excelling
in the Kathak world, among them are Prerana Shrimali, Madhu
Badjatya, Rekha tripathi, Jyoti Bharti (Shringaar mani 1994),
Roop Singh rathore (International Bhawai dance artist) &
Shweta Swati Garg most promising & influencing dancers
today from Jaipur Gharana.
